Hormonal Imbalance

Hormones play a significant role in normal functioning of the body as they tell the organs about what should be done. Some of the notable hormonal tasks that affect the body functioning include reproduction and metabolism.

What are the Main Causes of Hormonal Imbalance?

Numerous conditions could cause hormonal changes in the body, but the biggest one is thyroiditis. In this situation, the thyroid gland experiences inflammation due to which it increases the production of hormones. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is another cause of this disease. It is a genetic disease, which is associated with the immune system of the person.

Diabetes, tumors, eating disorders, and stress are other reasons behind hormonal imbalance. Some causes are specific to women. Those reasons are menopause, breastfeeding, premature menopause, contraceptive pills, and ovarian insufficiency.

How to Handle Hormonal Imbalance?

The presence of excessive hormones in the body leads to visible reactions like moodiness, weakness, and tiredness. The heart rate may also increase, and the hands may begin to shake. In addition, breathing problems, itchy skin, and inflammation of the skin are also signs of hormonal imbalance in the body.

If there is a reduction in the number of hormones in the body, then you experience symptoms like hair loss, dry skin, and slow heart rate, sensitivity to cold temperature, fatigue, and constipation. Moreover, it may also cause depression and sudden weight gain.

Symptoms exclusive for women are weight gain, hair loss, acne, irregular periods, and hirsutism. Symptoms in men include loss of muscle mass, infertility, erectile dysfunction, the creation of breast tissue, and reduced sex drive.

How Can Hormonal Imbalance be controlled With Lifestyle Changes?

Inner nutrition and exercises are the two ways in which you can control and balance the presence of hormones.

If you are looking for the ways of controlling the hormones in the body, then here are some of the lifestyle changes that you need to make.

#1 Increase the Consumption of Healthy Fats and Reduce Carbohydrates

Fatty foods not only provide the body with the energy that it needs but are also essential to keep the hormones under control. In addition, fatty acids also tend to reduce inflammation and increase metabolism as well. It is best that you consume healthy fat food including avocado, coconut oil, and salmon fish. All these will help you in keeping you fit and hormone levels under control.

#2 Emotional Balance

Often people say that emotions should be like water and everyone should allow them to flow in the direction they want to go. However, you need to create a dam for your emotions and try to control them. Internal feelings in a person cause numerous changes in the mind and body including hormonal changes. This statement does not mean that you should try to become emotionless.

All you have to do is try to control them and stay positive towards handling them. Deep breathing and spending time with your loved ones is the best therapy to get a hold of the emotions. Having a positive outlook towards like and maintaining a happy disposition surely helps.

#3 Get Sufficient Sleep

Doctors advise sleeping at least 8 hours a day. Does everyone follow this advice? Lack of sleep can cause numerous problems in the body including hormonal changes. Make sure to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep every day to control your hormones. Keep in mind that you follow a sleeping schedule. Just like professionals work according to their schedule, hormones also work the same way. They also work as per their schedule, and irregular sleeping habits could ruin their plan. Sleep will help you in controlling your emotions as well.
